About Wild Vine Floral

Sustainability : Grown not Flown

  • At Wild Vine Floral, our flowers come from our cutting garden when in bloom with additional product sourced from local Central Texas flower farms.* This commitment to “keeping it local” means that your flowers get to you fresher & quicker, giving you longer naturally lasting blooms that have a smaller ecological footprint than those sourced out-of-state or internationally.

  • We only use non-toxic materials.  We never use floral foam, sprays, bleach or dye in our products. Our gardening practice is an organic, holistic approach, though not certified organic.  We want to have a minimal impact on our environment and work to help educate others to make purchases this way in order to leave a better planet for our future generations. We use our own chicken and rabbit manure, as well as the “waste” from our floral designs, in our compost to fertilize our garden’s soil.

  • We collect rain water and use it to water our gardens.

  • We source seeds from small companies, using non-GMO & non-invasive species, in addition to saving our own seeds. We also share seeds through a seed exchange whenever we have surplus to give to our community.

  • Our perennial garden incorporates native and drought tolerant species that thrive in the Austin area including herbs that delight your sense of smell. Attention to what is blooming in the native Texas landscape delights our sense of seasons as they change. (For example, Zinnias bloom in Summer and Sweet Peas flourish in Spring.) Seasonal floral arrangements are one of life's sweet joys.

  • Our Flower Club subscription reuses mason jars, with an exchange at each delivery to lower unneeded waste.

  • In addition to growing, arranging, and gathering florals and foliage, I am available for wreath & floral arranging workshops. Just ask.

What People Are Saying …

“Flowers are my love language, but as I’ve recently begun to understand the carbon footprint of so many of the flowers on offer at traditional flower shops, I’ve had a hard time reconciling continuing to purchase them at the same frequency. Enter Wild Vine Florals :) I was thrilled to discover a local, woman owned and locally sourced option for my botanical sweet tooth! My flower club subscription is now the highlight of my month, and it’s dazzling to be surprised by the offering with each seasonal arrangement. There is such care and attention to detail that these arrangements have now become my go-to for the birthdays and anniversaries of friends and colleagues alike. Thank you for offering a sustainable flower option, Wild Vine! Austin is truly lucky to have you ♥️” Miranda Bennett (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

“I bought a bouquet from Wild Vine Floral for Mother’s Day. Josy sent a picture to me and I was impressed! The flowers were not what I would ordinarily see in an arrangement. My mother loved it and when my brother saw it he texted me that he was impressed as well. I highly recommend Wild Vine Floral!! Such sweet, beautiful and original arrangements..” Ginger S. from Beckett Meadows (posted to Nextdoor)

“I have loved the flowers I have received from Wild Vine - each bouquet is different, unique, and gorgeous. I have also sent them to numerous friends. It is easy to order, and the customer service is wonderful! I have found my new florist!” Katie Tackett (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

“I ordered a Mother’s Day bouquet from Wild Vine and what I received blew me away. I was expecting it to be beautiful but it was more than that....it was absolutely stunning. Every bouquet I’ve gotten from them is different and so much more interesting than your standard national flower company bouquet. They use local flowers in beautiful combinations, making arrangements that are elegant yet also retain a touch of the wild nature in which they were grown. You just can’t go wrong here. I’m considering a monthly subscription...so affordable and so much joy!.” Laura T. from Cherrywood (posted to Nextdoor)

“I tried Wild Vine Floral for the first time for a delivery to my niece in Austin this week. She was totally thrilled with the elegance, uniqueness, and freshness of the arrangement (and vase that came with it). When I saw the photo I was also delighted and thought it was breathtakingly beautiful. I was very glad I found and chose this florist instead of a more typical one. Josy was very responsive and as nice as can be to work with. I highly recommend this florist.” Elizabeth N. (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

“Such beautiful and unique arrangements made from local flora. We get one each month just to brighten the kitchen table. I highly recommend Wild Vine!” Elizabeth Doss (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

“Josy is absolutely my go to for all things exquisitely floral and gifty! She is beyond 5 stars and is just the most lovely, easy, personable person to communicate and work with. I have used her personally many times over, and professionally with a mass delivery of client appreciation gifts recently. First, I want to say her attention and organization around every single detail of delivery and presentation assures me all is very well taken care of. I can absolutely trust that she will bring forth exactly what I want with the most gorgeous display of appreciation. This woman has a magical eye for natural beauty (for real!) and hand picks the most beautiful, fresh assembly of natural, wild feeling floral goodness consistently, every single time. Her unique and stunning bouquets come from what is seasonally available, which she grows herself and thoughtfully procures elsewhere, all with local flair. She is a powerhouse of putting together pieces that are artful with this soulful essence of delicate and natural beauty, much like what you might experience gazing upon a field of wildflowers. Mysterious and bottomless awe and gratitude! I know that sounds overly effusive, but it is just somehow true! She is 100% heartfelt and those who receive these floral gems will certainly feel it.” Laura Kemp (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

“Highly recommend! I’ll def be using WVF in the future. Excellent and elegant arrangement designs, great service, simple website and ordering process. Give this local spot your business.” Rene C. (posted to Wild Vine Floral Google reviews)

Wild Vine Floral is the work of Josy Johnson. Find out more about her in this Voyage Austin Interview.

Hi Josy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved gardening and being outside. Born and raised in Austin and the Hill Country, I developed an appreciation for all our local plants, and I anticipate the blooms changing with the seasons. I looked around and saw few options for local and seasonal flowers. Traditional arrangements are often “flown in” flowers and sadly that means grown with chemicals, pesticides, even preservatives and an unsustainable carbon footprint. I wanted to provide a sustainable option for the Austin community to share beautiful arrangements that reflect what is in bloom now with flowers and herbs that smell good and have character. To do this, I grow as much as possible at my home gardens, and I source from several amazing local growers. Specifically, I started Wild Vine Floral on Mother’s Day 2020 by offering arrangements to friends. With the pandemic raging, I started offering a flower club with the option to have local flowers delivered as a subscription. Preservation is also important, so extra blooms and foliage are dried to make everlastings, dried bouquets and wreaths. The “waste” from my business is composted to add to my gardens.
